Soul Art
What I have dubbed privately as 'soul art' is a method of creation that pulls unintentional images and symbols from the subconscious. I never have a plan or indication of where these pieces are going at the beginning; the process is the journey is the purpose. It begins with a shape or a line at any point on the page, and is extended, thickened, and added to as feels natural to the artist at the time. This process triggers natural inspiration that is then attempted to be brought to life - due to the permanent nature of the medium an inevitable mistake gets made that can only be fixed via addition, not subtraction or erasure.
This process allows a consciously unintentional piece to leave the murky womb of the unconscious; a reflection of the soul state. If I remain still and without a forced direction I can sense what next step feels right, but only the next step and not the preceding. I then continue adding details that feel right until it feels time to stop - it is complete.

"Negative Space"
- July 2026
This piece began in a hospital waiting room, and was initially intended to only kill time. I began with the circle in the left quadrant and began extending out swirls. As usual I did not like where it was initially going, and decided I was going to rip it out and may as well just continue to fuck it up anyways; there is often an essence of anger and disappointment at this point. What it quickly turned into surprised me and I enjoyed the entirety of the remaining process as it unfolded over the course of a few days.
This was a time in my life where I was experiencing intense anxiety for the first time, and couldn't handle the overwhelm. Somehow I feel that emotion imbeds this piece and captures what my body was saying at the time.

"Interwoven"
- February 2025
One of my first pieces ever and the first attempt to work in pointillism - I believe there was a micro dose involved in this creation. It began with an attempt to create three-dimensional spheres using only dots to create this effect, the vision was clear, however, it this failed almost immediately and I was left with the six circular shapes still untouched in the final piece.
This still remains a favorite to me, at the time I did not consider myself an artist and was shocked to see what had become of this initially simple attempt at using fine-point pens. I believe it set the tone for my style and choice of medium going forward.
"Mother Bleed"
"Wave to Matter"
- January 2026
I spent three weeks over Christmas backpacking the western coast of Mexico where I encountered a stick-and-poke artist with a beautiful style that incorporated both nature and abstraction - I forever carry her work on my own body. Her demeanor and art style deeply resonated with me, and I found myself drawn to attempting my own style of abstraction. These are the first two pieces I bore after this experience.
In the months prior to these I was focused on human anatomy using graphite, which I felt surprisingly good at. However, I find when creating off reference images there is a limit to the natural creativity I experience and I had a hard time finding myself in that art. For these reasons, abstraction resonates deeply with me.
